What Is Wigan Phoenix?
Wigan Phoenix, based at The Hesketh Arms, Standish, is a totally voluntary organisation whose aim is to promote and pursue athletics in Wigan and surrounding districts.
Wigan Phoenix are primarily a road running and cross country club, who were formed in 1987.
Our active membership is currently around 100 and we welcome any runner over the age of 11.
Our membership includes juniors, seniors, vet ladies and vet men. Our youngest member is 17 and our oldest active member is 65.
In our 14 year history we have had over 250 people associated with the club.
Wigan Phoenix also boasts a strong womens team who between them have in the short history of the club achieved County and England vests.

Come Along and Join Wigan Phoenix
We welcome all ages and abilities, female and male to Wigan Phoenix. Our club runs are:
1. Monday nights From The Hesketh Arms (Wigan Phoenix Club House), Almond Brook Road, Shevington Moor, Standish. Start time 6.00pm. 2. Thursday nights From The Hesketh Arms
Start time 7.00pm and
3. Sunday mornings
From The Hesketh Arms
Start time 9.00am.
All you need to do is just to turn up, introduce yourself to anyone on hand and say that you are wanting to start and we can explain the usual routines. We can offer friendly help and advice on many aspects of running/training. We have members are from all walks of life with a common interest in running and athletics. Come along and run for fun or to train. There is no special commitment required at all, its more a question of what you want to put in to it. You will be welcome, whether you are training for fitness, losing weight or marathon training, road racing, fell racing, adventure racing, triathlon or quadrathlon. We have people on hand for all disciplines.
